my art is inspired by the pattern, detail and design of nature. being an environmental scientist, I am a strong advocate for conservation and awareness of our natural surroundings. our society faces an almost insurmountable dilemma of how to balance our needs with protecting the environment. i hope my art can draw people nearer to nature, recognise its beauty and contemplate and lessen the impact of our lifestyles on our natural surroundings.

Doh- try again!
As mentioned in my previous post, I was thinking about entering the CSIRO Wildlife Art @ Discovery exhibition. Despite a number of setbacks, I managed to complete a painting and submit it- yay!! Here tis'.
I did a rather large acrylic painting on plywood which I thought wasn't a bad effort. Unfortunately- it didn't make the cut which I was very disappointed about. I didn't receive any feedback as to why it didn't make it through- so will just have to try again next year and maybe try something a bit smaller and more detailed. The exhibition is currently running and here is a website you can view to see all the entries- WABA Art @ Discovery Exhibition. There were some amazing paintings. My favourite artworks were of aTasmanian Devil, Dingo and Cockatoos.....the detail in these artworks is incredible. I feel a bit 'try-hard' compared to these artists!
Now to think of another project? Maybe some animal sketches or a portrait of a family member?? Hmmm?
